On Aug 25, 2011 Crystal Simms hosted a rebranding launch party to celebrate her revamped fashion label, Crystal B. Designs, and redesigned website. This exclusive event gave the attendees a sneak peek of her Spring/Summer 2012 Collection.
Crystal Simms is a Chicago based fashion designer. Her label, Crystal B. Designs, is an advanced contemporary fashion line for women seeking high-end and architecturally-inspired pieces. Each garment is tailored to enhance the femininity of figure inherent in every woman, regardless of size or shape.
Crystal is the 2011 designer-in-residence at Chicago Fashion Incubator. She was a semi-finalist at the popular show Project Runway and is a graduate of International Academy of Designs and Technology in Chicago.
The launch was held at the Las Manos Gallery with a live DJ, drinks, hors d’oeuvre and networking with other fashion enthusiasts and professionals.
“It’s taken everything I have to get here,” says the designer, “and it’s all been worth it. I get to do what I love every day, and I just want a night to celebrate that and have a good time with everyone.”
As guests would approach the gallery their glance would be captured by the two models in the storefront, Hristina Mincheva and Emily Rogers, wearing Crystal B. Designs dresses. Posing as live mannequins Hristina and Emily would artfully strike and hold various posses.
The pieces were from the latest collection called “Shapes and Drapes” that was using a basic color scheme while focusing on detailing the looks with draped features mixed with color blocking. Only quality fabrics were used in the making, absolutely no polyester.
Inside Crystal had additional pieces on display. Inspired by the abstract artwork from the Las Manos Gallery, she created a one of a kind dress that definitely showcased her creativity.
Crystal is currently participating in the residence program for designers at Chicago Fashion Incubator. “It has been tremendously helpful. The program has educated me how to run my own business and it has opened up my mind as to what running a business is realistically.”
Upon completion of the program Crystal plans on taking her label to the new level.
