Year coming to a close and we’ve held our 6th (gasp!) Fashion Industry Mixer. Yes, 2011 has been a busy one and most definitely a successful one. As the events kept growing, we have met many wonderful people in the fashion industry in Chicago.

Seeing the need for networking opportunities in Chicago, we have launched Fashion Industry Mixers several months ago. However, we had no idea how fast the word would spread and the kind of popularity the event will gain. Since inception of the series we have connected many in the industry and were excited to see some of the collaboration work that came out as a result.

Fashion Industry Mixer is an industry networking event for fashion designers, photographers, models, hairstylists, makeup artists, bloggers, boutique owners and stylists, who are looking to expand their contact list, meet like minded people to collaborate on projects or are looking for new business opportunities.

While keeping things fresh and interesting we’ve chosen a venue close to Navy Pier. An upscale and intimate lounge in the historical Lake Point Tower called 120° Ultra Lounge. The venue was designed by an award winning interior designer Jordan Guide and offers nightclub atmosphere with a distinct industrial-chic ambiance.

This lounge was was picked as it would be a spot that Shavonne Dorsey customer, a fashionable, life-loving and outgoing woman, would choose to go out to.

Shavonne Dorsey is one of the 2011 Designers-In-Residence at Chicago Fashion Incubator at Macy’s. Opulent, classic and beautiful appropriately describe Shavonne Dorsey Designs. Specializing in powerfully feminine dresses, the line adorns the bodies of curvaceous women who love to confidently express themselves with great sophistication. Shavonne Dorsey’s line creates unique and figure flattering dresses for women up to size 24.

Shavonne’s Spring 2012 collection of colorful dresses was modeled by Nikeya Young, TaJ’ae Robinson, Perry Fish who also starred in a scene in the video about the Fashion Industry Mixer and the featured designer.
