Fabric heaven and informal casting at April Fashion Industry Mixer

In a continued effort to unite Chicago’s fashion industry we’ve held our 8th Fashion Industry Mixer. While there was still lots of networking happening, we have added a new twist to this well known industry event.

Fashion Industry Mixers are the only true industry events held in Chicago, where fashion professionals and emerging designers can network. The series has created a platform enabling fashion minded people to connect, build business relationships and find new opportunities. Designers had the chance to show their latest sketches, photographer were able to scout fresh faces for their next shoot, and makeup artists found other they can collaborate with.

Recently we have partnered with Benjamin Cottrell Designs, life stylist and fashion show producer, who came on board as the co-producer of the even. Benjamin has brought his special event expertise and fresh new ideas to the table.

As previous Fashion Industry Mixers had featured local fashion designers, we have decided to try something new and feature a local fashion business.

Supreme Novelty Fabrics first opened its doors in 1931 committed to offering the best quality fabrics and novelties for both everyday dress making and special occasion dresses. Over the years the store had maintained its committed to quality, knowledge and expertise. Supreme Novelty Fabrics has a grand selection of fabrics, trims and laces.

An informal casting call was held later in the evening where male and female models got a chance to audition for the up coming fashion shows that Benjamin Cottrell will be producing. Supreme’s enormous cutting table was used as a runway.

In addition, Marco Foster, founder of Chicago Models, was our host for the evening. He has been actively involved in the fashion scene and has been a host to many fashion shows. Marco has also given tips to the models before they auditioned.
