Avant-garde hairstyles and eco-friendly fashion at Hard Rock Hair Flip

Fashion, hair and philanthropy in one evening was the Hard Rock Hair Flip runway show presented by LUX MGT on May 17, 2012. Partnering with Restoration Salon and local designers to create a memorable runway experience to benefit Locks of Love.

Luxury Management (LUX MGT) began as a community outreach project in 2008 and has quickly grown from its philanthropic roots into a full-service company with services ranging from event planning to marketing.

Community engagement remains important to LUX MGT, who is all about giving back. LUX MGT has been leveraging glamorous events as a platform for merging a chic industry with the reality of the needs of those less fortunate.

Locks of Love was the beneficiary of the Hard Rock Hair Flip, an organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. Locks of Love is using donated hair to create the highest quality hair prosthetics.

For this fundraiser LUX MGT partnered with Restoration Salon Chicago that has created fashion forward hairstyles for the show, transforming the models’ hair into a piece of art. Restoration Salon has been around since 1993, now with three locations open in the city it remains committed to its clients needs.

Tim Weber, owner of Restoration Salon, walked us through the process of creating the big avant-garde crazy hair. “It was a technique that I learned about a year ago.” shared Tom, “We take a pin and we figure-eight-it with product in it. We take a flat iron and press it, we let it cool down. We take it out.” As it may sound simple, the process from start to finish takes several hours to complete.

The fashion show showcased the local designer Rosina~Mae’s swimsuit collection, Elyse Viene’s jewelry collection, and eyewear by Solstice Sunglass Boutique.

Rosina~Mae is an eco-friendly swimwear line for the young and eco-conscious fashionista. Using recycled materials such as metallic fabrics ad PVC, Rose creates functional, layerable clothing that is unique and adventurous, that can take them straight “from the beach–to the street–to the party!” The runway presentation started with Rosina~Mae’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection switching to the exclusive debut of her Fall/Winter line.

E By Elyse Marie Vieni is a unique jewelry collection that focuses on creating a style that has no boundaries. It is a line of jewelry for confident and fearless women who are not afraid to take risk in life. All of the pieces are one of a kind and individually hand made. Elyse uses a combination of gemstones, pearls, vintage chains, mixed metals, glass beads, and unique findings to create accessories that captures essence of individuality.
